“SUMMARY: Dr. Schaumberg has been the personal physician of my spouse and I for several months now. From the complementary (individual) Meet and Greets, where all our individual questions were answered, to the extraordinary level of continuing consultation, attention, and testing given to each of us, our experience has far exceeded our expectations.

We sought a concierge practice earlier this year, primarily because a close friend of ours, who would often brag about how his parents lived far into their 90s, received the worst kind of sudden diagnosis, and was gone several weeks after that. Although each of us had been satisfied with the care we’d been receiving from our primary care physicians and specialists, and having undergone all sort of blood tests, CAT scans, etc., we decided we wanted more.

What “more” has meant for us: initial blood tests with far more information than we’d ever received before, electronically measured stats such as to fat percentages on every part of our bodies, and full body scans, so we’d get to know about anything that we might be carrying that we’d never know about with the level of care were we getting previously.

Beyond that, we each have as much access to Dr. S. as we ask for: either in person (either for 30 or 60 minutes, WHICHEVER WE REQUEST), by phone, or by emailing questions through the portal of the practice, where we most always get same-day answers from him.

And his patients can keep seeing any of the specialists they want to continue with, or Dr. S. will recommend someone new if they wish.

The support staff is likewise very professional and caring.

A few more details, from my own few months with Dr. S. For many years, I’ve had difficulty sleeping for more than five hours a night, and as far as I knew, had to live with it, because the “popular” sleep drugs like Ambien can’t be taken for an extended period. Dr. S. knew about and prescribed for me a drug I didn’t know about, that can be taken nightly. I am now sleeping from 7 to 8 hours most every night.

But more important than that. I had lost each of my parents due to too-late diagnoses of lung cancers. So over the past 10 years, my previous physician had allowed me to take two lung scans, both of which were negative. But Dr. S. agreed with my desire to have a true full-body scan now. While nothing serious was found, there was something I hadn’t known about that required attention, and I am getting highly individualized, specialized treatment to take care of it.

This review might well be longer than most others here, but I write for a living, and wanted to share all these details with anyone who might be considering this practice.
